Doe Run Road Over Buck Run Bridge Replacement
Project Location
Overview
This project is the replacement of the existing bridge that carries Doe Run Road over Buck Run. The existing bridge is a two-span reinforced concrete tee-beam bridge that was built in 1926. The bridge spans Buck Run and its floodplain. The bridge is currently posted with a 24-ton weight restriction except for 34-tons for combination vehicles. The anticipated structure will be a single-span prestressed concrete box beam bridge with two lanes and shoulders. An existing concrete cross pipe south of the bridge will be replaced with a precast concrete box culvert. The project also includes approach roadway reconstruction and re-alignment.
A single lane of traffic on Doe Run Road will be maintained through the project area during construction utilizing a temporary traffic signal. Driveway access will be maintained at all times. The duration of construction is anticipated to be approximately 8 months.
The bridge is located on the municipal boundary between East Fallowfield Township and West Marlborough Township, Chester County.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to attend a live virtual public meeting on Wednesday, November 1, for the project to replace the existing Route 82 (Doe Run Road) bridge over Buck Run in East Fallowfield and West Marlborough townships, Chester County.
