Farrell Streets Improvement Project

Project Overview

The City of Farrell in cooperation with PennDOT will be improving Idaho Street, Spearman Avenue and Darr Avenue. The improvement limits are as follows:

  • Idaho Street – Approximately 100 feet west of Overlook Avenue to the intersection with Beechwood Avenue.
  • Spearman Avenue – Idaho Street to French Street
  • Darr Avenue – Idaho Street to French Street

The project includes removing the existing asphalt and brick paving and replacing it with new asphalt pavement, constructing new ADA compliant curb ramps and sidewalks, adjusting manholes, replacing inlets, and upgrading pavement markings and signs.

To meet current utility location standards, work will also include changing the travel lane width of Spearman Avenue and Darr Avenue. Spearman Avenue is currently 31 feet curb to curb and will be changed to 28 feet. Darr Avenue currently varies from 24 to 30 feet and will be changed to 22 feet.

Portions of the work will require short-term closures and traffic controlled by flaggers. Work is expected to occur in the 2023 and 2024 construction seasons.

This project is funded with a state multimodal grant and is being done in coordination with the City of Farrell.
