511PA Allows PA Drivers to Plan Ahead No Matter the Season

Know before you go! To help make decisions regarding winter travel, motorists are encouraged to visit www.511PA.com or the free 511PA app to check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 of those miles. The 511PA website and app is free and available 24 hours a day, and provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

Users can also see plow truck statuses and travel alerts along a specific route using the "Check My Route" tool and find EV charging stations and low-bridge locations.

In addition to those features, users can sign up for personalized travel alerts sent directly to their phone and/or email. Alerts can be configured to a specific area/set of routes, rather than looking at an entire region/state.

They can also be configured to specific days of the week/times of the day and specific road issue category (current categories are incidents, roadwork, general travel information, weather restrictions, other weather related). Through these alerts, users will be notified when issues clear.

All these features and more can be accessed at www.511PA.com, through the smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts.
