Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated drivers on its Route 35 highway restoration project near Mifflintown Borough in Juniata County. This work, which impacts Route 35 between Butchershop Road and the on-ramp to Route 322, will improve the ride quality, extend the life of the roadway surface, and enhance safety for the traveling public.

Starting Monday, May 13, the contractor will begin shoulder reconstruction, which requires them to close the Route 22 westbound off-ramp at the Mifflintown/McAlisterville exit. Traffic on Route 22 will continue westbound for approximately three miles to the Arch Rock Road exit and then follow Old 22 Road (Route 3002) back to Route 35. PennDOT anticipates the ramp closure being in place for one week. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

PennDOT also reminds drivers to use caution and not to follow trucks into the closed lane as they deliver material.

Overall work consists of roadway reconstruction, installation of traffic signal supports, radar detection systems, Intelligent Transportation System cameras and devices, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker of State College is the contractor on this $3.1 project.
