Acquired Brain Injury

The Acquired Brain Injury Program (ABIP) provides brain injury rehabilitation for individuals who are eligible. The goal of the program is to help individuals with nontraumatic acquired brain injury live independently in their homes and communities

Services provided by the Acquired Brain Injury Program include: Pre-Admission Assessment Service plan development Rehabilitation services, such as:

  • Cognitive therapy
  • Therapeutic recreation
  • Work skills training
  • Life skills training

Services may be provided in:

  • Day facilities (outpatient)
  • Home and community settings

Enrolled individuals may receive 12 consecutive months or $50,000 for rehabilitation services. To be eligible, an individual must:

  • Be 18 to 25 years of age*
  • Be a Pennsylvania resident
  • Meet income guidelines
  • Complete an application
  • Have needs that can be addressed by the ABIP through rehabilitation services.

* Additional information will be collected from applicants 22 to 25 years of age.
