Bureau of Policy Overview
The Bureau of Policy sets the direction for federal and state funded public assistance benefit programs. Maintaining this level of oversight for current and future programs the Bureau of Policy has several divisions. Each division is briefly described below.
Division of Family Assistance
- Develops, writes, and maintains regulatory policy governing eligibility for the commonwealth's cash transfer programs, including: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the State Blind Pension (SBP).
Division of Federal Programs + Program Management
- Develops and maintains regulatory policy for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the new name for the food stamp program, and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Division of Health Services
- Develops and maintains regulatory policies for the commonwealth's Medical Assistance (Medicaid) program.
