RETAIL FOOD

Farmers Market

If you want to sell food at a farmers' market, you need a Retail Food License.

Each stand at the market needs its own license, even if it's the same market.

You must send your license application at least 60 days before you start selling food. If you don’t provide all the needed information, it might delay or stop your application. It's best to email your application to:

RA-AGPLANREVIEW@pa.gov

Or you can mail or fax it to:

Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services
Attn: Plan Review
2301 N. Cameron St, Room 112
Harrisburg, PA 17110
Fax: 717-787-1873

If you live in Allegheny, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Erie, Montgomery, or Philadelphia counties, contact your County Health Department directly for licensing.

Note: Do not send money with your application. It takes about 4-6 weeks to process.

All food and drinks sold must come from an approved source. This means the place where the food is made or stored must be inspected and approved. If you have more questions, check out the FAQs.
