    Meet Traffic Analyst Todd Rottet

    ​Todd Rottet is a Transportation Planning Specialist 2 who has been with PennDOT's Bureau of Planning and Research since 1999.  He has worked in the Geographic Information Division (GID) and in the Transportation Planning Division (TPD) where he still resides today. 

    Todd is a subject matter expert when it comes to the department's permanent traffic counting device data analysis, trouble shooting, and installations.  He is responsible for the data analysis of one-third of the department's permanent traffic counting sites, which continuously (24/7/365) collect traffic data on roads throughout the state. The data from the sites are used to meet monthly reporting requirements for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), creation of the annual traffic factors found in Pub 601 – Pa Traffic Data, and the data are entered into PennDOT's TiRE website for access by PennDOT and the public.

    During the COVID emergency quarantine, Todd was instrumental in ensuring data was analyzed quickly and accurately to report traffic trends to upper management on a weekly basis. He also provided weekly data from a few of the permanent sites to FHWA Headquarters as part of their travel trends analysis during the pandemic.

    Todd is originally from Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Bloomsburg University with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning in 1997. When Todd isn't at work, he enjoys exploring and hiking the outdoors, fishing, travel and music. He is an avid fan and follower of the Philadelphia Phillies. Todd is a husband to wife Melissa and father of two great teenagers, Gabriel and Reagan.  Todd also enjoys spending time with his two fur-baby Cavachons, Duncan and Dash.
